Did you know that your Social Security Disability benefits can give you financial aid, in addition to your college scholarship?
You may be eligible for a college grant worth hundreds of dollars of additional college scholarship aid from Social Security each month to pay for things like:
- tuition & books
- computer & supplies
- internet
- tutoring
- food while at school
- child care
- mileage - transportation costs
If you are going to use the PASS to pay for expenses that other grants don't, you need to start gathering that information, so that you use all types of funding that is available. Check out our Disability Resource page and scroll down to education assistance.
A PASS Plan, your "disability scholarship" is like an additional scholarship or college grant from Social Security; you will not have to pay it back, unlike student loans.
Already in school or have a college scholarship, why build up bad credit with student loans when a Social Security PASS Plan could cover part of the cost. A PASS Plan (college grant) will not cover past school expenses or fix the bad credit of student loans, but it can cover any future expenses. A PASS Plan (scholarship for the disabled) will not benefit everyone, but if you have a disability and receive SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), why not register and check it out!
If you receive SSI (Supplemental Security Income), are a student under the age of 22, and working while you are in school; make sure you know all the information about SEIE (Student Earned Income Exclusion).
